Chris Kyle "The American Sniper" Memorial
Built: 2016
Budget: Undisclosed
Location: State Highway 191 in Texas
Chris Kyle was a US Navy SEAL and is recognized as the deadliest sniper in US military history. A movie about his life was directed by Clint Eastwood and starred Bradley Cooper as Chris. Born in Texas, this memorial was developed to show appreciation to Chris, the SEAL community, the US military, and all first responders. The plaza features a massive bronze of Chris by noted sculptor Vic Payne, and is located on the grounds of the Veterans Hospital on State Highway 191 in Ector County. The project gained international recognition for it's integrated symbolism of design, and was dedicated in front of a crowd of thousands by Chris' widow, Taya Kyle. The site now serves as a powerful gathering place for veterans and their families, who come from all over the world to reflect on the symbolism of the plaza and memorial.
